Preventing wrinkles on the chest
No one really likes ageing, but it is a natural process we all go through. Whether you notice a few more grey hairs each year, smile lines or wrinkles around the eyes, you can slow down the wrinkles. Learn how to prevent or slow wrinkles from forming on your chest by adjusting your sleeping position, sun exposure and diet and exercise.
Chest wrinkle prevention
There are several things you can do to slow down wrinkles as you age. Your own lifestyle has a great deal to do with your appearance, energy level, skin and wrinkles. Fortunately, you can make significant lifestyle changes to reduce wrinkles all over your body including wrinkles on the chest.
Wrinkles and smoking
If you are a smoker, try to quit. Smoking causes numerous health concerns and it is known to increase the ageing process, which results in more wrinkles.
Next to smoking, too much sun exposure is high on the list for causing wrinkles. Lying out in the sun on the beach year after year eventually takes its toll on your skin. Ultraviolet rays from the sun work to reduce elasticity in the skin resulting in wrinkling over the entire body including the chest.
If you must go out in the sun, use a sunscreen with a protection rating of 15 or more. When possible wear a hat for added protection. Consider an umbrella for shade.
Changing your natural sleeping position is one of those lifestyle changes that may take getting used to. Try to avoid sleeping to the side and instead lie flat on your back.
When you sleep on the side it naturally forces the chest together creating creases. Because your skin is less elastic as you age, creases have a higher likelihood of turning into wrinkles on the neck and your chest.
Maintaining a diet with healthy food choices, such as fish, proteins, fruits and vegetables results in healthier skin overall. These essentials become the building blocks to replace skin cells and renew the skin.
Exercise also plays an important part in keeping the muscles toned and the skin from sagging, creasing and wrinkling. Changing over to a healthier lifestyle can help to prevent wrinkles on the chest and other parts of the body as you age.
