Short hairstyles, new trends for Spring Summer 2013
Pixies, crops, bobs, short shags, buzz cuts there are dozens of different short hair styles to choose from this year, so you too can be part of the short hair trend that is gaining momentum, and right in time for this spring and summer.
Naturally the most daring trend setters are celebrities who seem to have no qualms about chopping off their long tresses and they are garnering attention both on and off the red carpet, but these latest stars weren’t the first, so how can we not remember Demi Moore shaving off her long dark locks into a buzz cut for the G.I. Jane flick, or Moore’s short bob in the romantic movie Ghost or Natalie Portman who shaved her head in V for Vendetta, and of course actress Jamie Lee Curtis who has been sporting a short, no fuss, no muss hairstyle for years and continues to look stunning as ever.
Oscar winner Charlize Theron had to cut her blonde hair last year to play Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road, which comes out in 2014, and then stepped out with a dramatic mix of salt and pepper hair, until she dyed it back to a luscious blonde, bringing out all her stunning sensuality.
If you think that short hair can’t be styled differently once it’s been cut, check out Miley Cyrus’ numerous variations on her ‘do and she said ‘doesn't miss her long hair in any way’, and if that doesn't seem an endorsement for comfort and the practicality of having short hair we don’t know what is.
But if you prefer a short cut that is both sophisticated, glamorous and feminine, how about opting for Les Miserables star, Anne Hathaway’s pixie hair cut which is now slightly longer with bangs covering her forehead that can also be parted sideways.
If you’re not willing just yet to join Michelle Williams' or Halle Berry’s pixie cut club, a bob cut or a shag with your hair ending just over your ears will make you still feel like you’re part of the 2013 short hair trend.
