Marc Jacobs retrospective at Milan Fashion week
Fashion chatter that Marc Jacobs is about to jump ship from Louis Vuitton to Dior has reached a crescendo this week, with the news that the designer is planning a retrospective of his 14 year career at Milan Fashion Week. The show will take place from the September 22 to October 9 at the Triennale.
Respected bloggers fashionista.com confirmed the news, writing, 'According to WWD, stylist and editor Katie Grand will curate the exhibition. Marc and Katie have collaborated consistently throughout his tenure at Vuitton–in addition to styling most of the ready-to-wear shows, she even curated a mini-retrospective of Marc’s work for the house at the opening of Vuitton’s London flagship last year. This exhibition has a similar context in that the house is also unveiling an expanded store in Milan that week. However, this one sounds like it has more weight to it–like it’s a bit more final than last year’s. We just hope this isn’t the last we see of Marc and Katie working together–they make a great team and could probably do some awesome things over at Dior.'
John Galliano was sacked by Dior after being arrested for making anti-Semitic remarks to a group in Paris early this year. The troubled designer promptly headed off to rehab. However, there are signs that Galliano may be re-embraced by the fashion world, after he designed Kate Moss's wedding dress for her Cotswolds nuptials in July. Galliano could make his comeback through continuing to design for his eponymous brand, 'Galliano'.
So with all change at the top, we feel a fashion moment coming on...
