The fashion world is all abuzz today with talk that Marc Jacobs, everyone's favourite wacky designer, might be taking over from Galliano as creative director of Dior. Just one minor factor stands in the way of Jacobs grabbing the scissors; his role as head of Louis Vuitton. Marc has apparently been meeting Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH which owns all the brands in question, to thrash out a deal. The story is made even more interesting, by the fact that Arnault is also the subject of scandal, having fathered a child with Linda Evangelista, who is now suing him for maintenance. They're having a busy old time in the cut-throat world of fashion.
A source told Vogue, 'The two have met often in recent weeks to discuss the matter. Jacobs, the current creative director of Louis Vuitton, renewed his contract with LVMH in January - and it is possible for him to continue in his current position even if he takes over Dior. More likely, however, is that he'll end up choosing between one of two. Arnault would prefer him to go to Dior - as the billionaire sees it; Jacobs' image will only be good for the fashion house, which was considerably shaken by the Galliano scandal.'
However, when asked about the veracity of the claims, Dior chief executive said, 'You know when you ask young girls all the time when they are going to get married, they reply: 'When I find the right man' adding that the fashion house will 'take all its time...all options are open for the future.' A decision is expected to made in the next month.
