MAC Cosmetics launches tribute Antonio Lopez limited edition collection
MAC Cosmetics has decided to dedicate a limited edition make up and accessories collection, in tribute to the late Antonio Lopez, one of the most famous fashion illustrators of the ‘70s and ‘80s.
Lopez was known for his illustrations for fashion houses like Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent and Versace and his work appeared in such publications as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, Interview and The New York Times , and his works were exhibited in galleries all over the world.
Fronting the new tribute collection will be Jerry Hall, Pat Cleveland and Marisa Berenson, whose careers were launched by the late illustrator, who died in 1987 of AIDS, at the age of 44.
The limited-edition collection that is emblazoned with the artwork of the illustrator will include three different and stunning six eye colored palettes: violet, copper and teal, and also three lip palettes: fuchsia, nude and red.
The MAC Antonio Lopez collection also contains two face palettes, the Pink Face and the Coral Face, with six different shades.
Also available will be a MAC Antonio Lopez compact mirror, tote and make up bag.
"Our collection with Antonio Lopez is symbolic of a time when indulgence was at its peak… there was a magic to his world and a time in history that hasn't been recaptured. I think people are lusting after that glamour, which is difficult to come by today," said James Gager, senior vice president and group creative director for MAC.
"So, we felt this was the right moment to reintroduce Antonio Lopez's work to a wider audience, and the world to these women, who are still iconic and look really fantastic. They are steeped in an age that we are all intrigued by."
The limited edition collection will be released this month, and the products will only be available from September 12th to October 10th.
