Hold on to your blusher, girls
According to an article in the Daily Mail, it is not just the girls who are picky about their appearances these days. A new study, has found that over 3 million British men admit to regularly wearing make up.
The 10 most popular products for guys includes hair dye, eye liner, fake tan and mascara (or, to use it’s official term, ‘manscara’). The total figure of make-up-wearing-men equates to 1 in 7, with a seemingly inexplicable rise in Wales where 16% of men claim to use beauty products.
Of course the ‘meterosexual’ is hardly a new phenomenon – there were whispers about it all the way back in the late 90s – but these figures are a clear indicator of the growing trend for men to care about their appearances just as much as women. The study also found that men who wear make up usually spend about 21 minutes getting ready, whereas the girl take double that.
James Endersby, of Opinium Research, told the Mail: 'We're living in an age where male celebrities are seen wearing 'manscara' and 'guyliner' and everybody thinks it normal. It looks like metrosexual man is here to stay.’ So basically if your boyfriend comes to the pub looking like Pete Burns, don’t say we didn't warn you.
