Diane Kruger fronts Chanel's 2013 skincare campaign
Diane Kruger will be the new face for Chanel’s skincare beauty campaign that will be launched later this year.
Kruger started her career as a ballet dancer, model who turned actress and is known for her roles as Helen in Troy, Dr. Abigail Chase in National Treasure and National Treasure: Book of Secrets, and Bridget von Hammersmark in Inglourious Basterds and is currently in movie theatres in Andrew Niccol’s new sci-fi movie The Host - which is an adaptation of Twilight author Stephenie Meyer's book .
This announcement follows the one of Gisele Bundchen as the face of the brand's Les Beiges make-up last February.
Chanel's press release states,: "With her natural elegance and beauty, Diane Kruger is one of the most famous faces of international cinema. Attracted by her cosmopolitan spirit and artistic background, the House of Chanel chose her for its Allure fragrance advertising campaign in 1996, then again for the Paris-Biarritz bag advertising campaign, shot by Karl Lagerfeld in 2007. Now an ambassadress for Chanel, Diane Kruger will be the face of a new skincare advertising campaign, due to be unveiled in 2013.”.
Kruger has known Chanel’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld since was a teenager and she often wears Chanel on the red carpet and speaking to Vogue UK said, “He is like a godfather to me. We’re very close- we just get on so well. He is a very curious person, he’s very interested in people in general. I’ve known him since I was 16-years-old, ever since I first started modeling and he has always been so kind. We go way back. People have said I am his muse but I don’t think I’d call myself that. It’s not how I think of our relationship. That’s big. It’s hard to describe Karl, he really is one of a kind.”
Besides modeling for Chanel, Kruger has also modeled for Armani, and was a spokesmodel for L'Oreal, and brand ambassador for Jaeger-LeCoultre watches, and was the face of Calvin Klein Beauty perfume.
