Chignons rule on the 2013 Cannes Film Festival red carpet
The prestigious Cannes Film Festival isn’t only to preview the newest films, but it is also a week long glamorous fashion event, where celebrities walk down the various red carpets donning fabulous designer gowns and show off new trends not only in fashion, but also stunning hairstyles.
For the 66th annual Cannes Film Festival, there were dozens of the hottest stars who wore their hair up, and chignons in a number of different variations had to be the trendiest and best-liked do of the season.
Carey Mulligan, the lovely star of the Great Gatsby wore a two tone black and white gown by Vionnet and had her blonde hair up in an intricate and twisted chignon, and she continued with the chignon style with simply pinned up bun for another red carpet evening.
Jessica Biel in her strapless Marchesa dress also had her hair up as she accompanied hubby Justin Timberlake, while Kirsten Dunst kept her hair up and also donned a Dolce & Gabbana headband to her twisted up do, while Emma Watson went with a low and very sleeked back bun.
Freida Pinto's dark hair was swept up in very romantic wavy side parted up-do to which she added some stunning silver hair accessories, and she also wore her hair up showing off a halo braid, as did Milla Jovovich who later switched to a simple bun, and French actress Bérénice Bejo, also went for the braided crown hairstyle.
Top British model Cara Delevingnehad her hair in a large quiff and a side-braided 'do , while star Nicole Kidman, who is a juror in the Festival, also had a teased quiff, with a slick ponytail snaking down her long neck that was the talk of the red carpet.
Marion Cotillard had a teased very 60s inspired beehive stylefor her Cannes 2013 debut, andMegan Gale had an ’80s style rockabilly chignon which was a revamped mix between a banana chignon and a coque chignon to get her highly sophisticated look.
